British NHS
I've been thinking today, well over the last few days in fact. I've also critiscised the whole idea of the NHS - as I've felt it's led to people not being treated in good time for life threatening diseases (having seen this happen with a family member). However, there are so many plus points as well.
I'm currently on some medication which I have to take everyday - which requires me to get a box for every month, so approximately 28 tablets. On the NHS, this costs £7.50 if I remember correctly (Standard prescription fee). I looked at these particurlar tablets on the internet, along with some previous ones that I have taken, and the price to buy them without prescription is simply extraordinary. Around £200 - £300 in some cases. The fact that NHS must subsidise the cost of the medicine, is certainly something I haven't really realised before, as obvious as it is. That's just one reason of many I've come to find recently, as to why I think the NHS is a really good thing (well you should hope so for all the tax you pay!)
I'm inclined to think, that maybe the system has just gotten better over time since I last 'despised it' per se.
Anyways, just thought I'd drop that on here, see what you guys think, do you have any personal experiences? Good or bad? I'd be really interested to hear them.
Chow for now.
